Juggling multiple classes and school work can be very difficult. Major essays, readings, and projects are due on the same week or even the same day. Adding extracurricular activities and life into the mix makes school harder to keep under control. Like any college student, I faced many challenges.
My name is Yocasta Novas, I am an ILCHS alumni and former Valedictorian (2012). Today I attend Lehman College as a member of the Lehman Scholars Honors Program; I will major in English and Psychology with a possible minor in Italian. I am also a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
I would like to thank Dr. Elaine Ruiz López for always being a constant supporter, adviser, and role model. Dr. Elaine Ruiz López believes in my academic potential and has always looked out for me and my wellbeing. Dr. Elaine Ruiz López helped foster my leadership skills; she has encouraged me to become involved in school activities and to step up to leadership positions.
